Annalisa Tanzilli is a clinical psychologist and psychoanalytic psychotherapist, and Associate Professor of Dynamic Psychology at Sapienza University of Rome. Her main research interests focus on the diagnosis, assessment, and psychotherapeutic treatment of personality disorders in adults and adolescents; the therapeutic relationship (articulated in terms of transference, countertransference, and alliance) and therapist variables (including responsiveness); the assessment of depressive disorders within the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM) framework; defense mechanisms; and the evaluation of psychotherapy process and outcome in psychodynamic treatments. She is Vice-President of the Society for Psychotherapy Research – Italy Area Group (SPR-IAG) and a member of the European Society for the Study of Personality Disorders (ESSPD). She has authored numerous publications. In 2019, she received the Research Grant awarded by the PDM-2 scientific committee and the Interdisciplinary Council on Developmental and Learning Disorders (ICDL). She is chapter editor of the “Adolescence” section of the third edition of the Psychodynamic Diagnostic Manual (PDM-3), edited by Vittorio Lingiardi and Nancy McWilliams (Guilford Press, 2025).
